Bangladesh end ODI series with another defeat

South Africa : 369/6 in 50 overs (du Plessis 91*, de Kock 73, Markram 66; Mehidy 2/59, Taskin 2/66, Rubel 1/75)

Bangladesh : 169/10 in 40.4 overs (Shakib 63, Sabbir 39, Mashrafe 17; Paterson 3/44, Markram 2/18, Tahir 2/27)

Result : South Africa won by 200 runs.

A disappointing ODI series comes to an end for Bangladesh after losing the third and final ODI by 200 runs against South Africa at Buffalo Park, East London. South Africa won the series 3-0.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first. Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock gave South Africa a solid start making 119 runs in the opening partnership. Finally Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke the partnership by dismissing Bavuma on 48. Couple of overs later Mehidy struck again and took the wicket of de Kock on 73.

Aiden Markram was run out on 66 after du Plessis retired hurt on 91. Despite some late wickets from Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain, South Africa posted a mammoth total of 369 for 6. Mehidy and Taskin shared 2 wickets each.

In reply Bangladesh suffered a nightmare start as they lost the wickets of Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das and Soumya Sarkar for only 20 runs on the board. Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed on 8. Willem Mulder trapped Mahmudullah on 2. Bangladesh were in deep trouble on 61/5.

Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman added 67 runs in the sixth wicket. Shakib was dismissed after scoring 63. Markram also got rid of Sabbir on 39. Tigers lost their last three wickets in quick-succession and were eventually all out for 169 in 40.4 overs. Dane Paterson grabbed 3 wickets for 44.

2-match T2OI series will start from October 26 at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.
