Bangladesh have shown some fightback in the second day of the second Test against India at Eden Gardens as Mushfiqur Rahim’s gritty unbeaten fifty still kept the Tigers in match. At stumps of day two, Bangladesh trail by 87 runs.

India declared their first innings after posting 347 runs for 9 in the second session. Two overnight batsmen Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane added more 62 runs to their century partnership before Taijul got rid of Rahane on 51. Seamers then joined the party and picked up couple of quick wickets and put some pressure on the hosts.

But Kohli on the other end scored an stroke-full century to give India a big first innings lead. He was finally dismissed on 136 by Ebadat Hossain thanks to a stunning catch from Taijul at the deep square leg. India then declared their innings with a lead of 241 runs. Al-Amin and Ebadat shared two wickets each.

In the second innings, Bangladesh faced another nightmare start as they lost 4 wickets for just 13. Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah decided the made an counter attack as they went to play some attacking cricket and scoring runs in a hurry. Their resistance was cut short as Mahmudullah was force to retire hurt on 39 after suffering hamstring injury.

Next two batsmen Mehidy Hasan and Taijul then got early as Bangladesh ended the day 152 for 6. Mushfiqur was remained unbeaten on 59 on the other end who picked up his second fifty in the series. Ishant Sharma bagged 4 wickets for 39 for India.
