Host Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the first semi-final of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017 at the Chittagong Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Bangladesh came through as runner-up from group B while Sri Lanka made it to the semi-final as champion from group A.
Bangladesh tied their last group match which put them behind Pakistan through run-rate. Mominul Haque and Mohammad Mithun both scored half-century while Mohammad Saif Uddin picked up 3 wickets for 54 runs with the ball.
Earlier Bangladesh beat Hong Kong by 8 wickets in the opening match of the tournament. In the second match they won by 83 runs against Nepal.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka bounced back from the defeat in their first match against India and beat Afghanistan and Malaysia comprehensively to seal the top spot. Match will start at 9 am local time. Pakistan face Afghanistan in the other semifinal also
Apart from the U-23 match of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will also face off in the 3rd and final ODI match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo.
Bangladesh lead the series 1-0 after the 2nd match was abandoned due to heavy rain at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
