Bangladesh have ended the Asia Cup UAE 2018 with disappointment as they lost to India by 3 wickets in a thrilling final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

Earlier Rohit Sharma won the toss and put Bangladesh into bat first. Bangladesh made one change in the team as Nazmul Islam came to the side replacing Mominul Haque.

Surprise inclusion in the opening pair, Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided the Tigers a solid start to the innings along with Liton Kumar Das. They added 120 runs in the first wicket stand in 20.5 overs. Kedar broke the partnership by dismissing Mehidy on 32. After that, Bangladesh lost couple of wickets in no time and were in trouble after losing fifth wicket for 152.

Liton on the other hand played and an counter-attacking knock to get his maiden ODI century. He was finally got out on 121 off 117 balls. Soumya Sarkar then tried to give Bangladesh a respectable with the knock of 33 before another collapse in the later overs ended the innings on 222 in 48.3 overs. Kuldeep grabbed 3 wickets for 45.

Defending a low total, bowlers gave a good start by picking up two early wickets for 46 of India. Rohit looked dangerous before Rubel Hossain removed him on 48. Post that wicket, Dhoni and Karthik added 54 runs in the fourth wicket to ease the chase. Mahmudullah got rid of Karthik on 37. Couple of overs later, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza dismissed Dhoni on 36 and put the pressure back on India.

Then Jadeja and Kumar slowly took the game off from Bangladesh. Rubel and Mustafizur Rahman got rid of both of them and brought the momentum back on Bangladesh’s side. Mahmudullah gave his everything in the final over to defend 6 runs but it was not enough as India clinched a last-ball victory with 3 wickets in hand in the very last ball of the match. Rubel and Mustafizur shared 2 wickets each.

Despite being on the losing side, Liton was named man of the match for his splendid century.
