Bangladesh lost to India in nail-biting final

Bangladesh : 166/8 in 20 overs (Sabbir 77, Mahmudullah 21, Miraz 19*; Chahal 3/18, Unadkat 2/33, Sundar 1/20)

India : 168/6 in 20 overs (Rohit 56, Karthik 29*, Pandey 28; Rubel 2/35, Mustafizur 1/21, Shakib 1/28)

Result : India won by 4 wickets.

Bangladesh lost by 4 wickets against India in the final of Nidahas Trophy 2018 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

Earlier India have won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Tamim Iqbal and Liton Kumar Das gave Bangladesh a solid start with a partnership of 27 in 3.2 overs. Then Bangladesh were in trouble after losing three quick wickets of Tamim, Liton and Soumya in a short span. After the departure of Mahmudullah on 21, it was Sabbir Rahman who guided Bangladesh to a formidable total. Sabbir was dismissed after scoring 77 off 50 balls. Mehidy Hasan Miraz played an quick-fire knock of 19 and helped Bangladesh to post 166 for 8 in 20 overs.

Defending 166, Shakib gave the early breakthrough by dismissing Shikhar Dhawan on 10. Rubel Hossain put more pressure on India in the next over by picking the wicket of Suresh Raina without scoring. Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul then added 51 runs in the 3rd wicket. Rubel got rid of Rahul on 24 and broke the partnership. Nazmul Islam then bagged the big wicket of Rohit on 56. India needed 12 runs in the last over. Soumya bowled the last over but his effort was not enough as Dinesh Kartik hit a last ball six to seal a 5-wicket victory for India. Karthik remained not on 29 off just 8 balls. Mustafizur took 2 wickets for 35.
