Bangladesh lost to Pakistan in Warm-up Match

Bangladesh : 341/9 in 50 overs (Tamim 102, Imrul 61, Mushfiqur 46, Junaid 4/73, Shadab 2/55, Hasan Ali 2/58)

Pakistan : 342/8 in 49.3 overs (Malik 72, Ashraf 64*, Hafeez 49, Mehidy 2/30, Mosaddek 1/29, Shakib 1/41)

Result : Pakistan won by 2 wickets.


Despite Tamim Iqbal’s century, Bangladesh lost by 2 wickets against Pakistan in their first Warm-up match at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Batting first Bangladesh lost Soumya Sarkar early of their innings. Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes added 142 runs in the second wicket partnership. Tamim was dismissed before scoring 102 off 93 balls including 9 fours and 4 sixes. Imrul’s 61 and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 46 helped Bangladesh to post 341 for 9 in 50 overs. Junaid Khan took 4 wickets for 73.

In reply Pakistan lost their first wicket in the 4th over when Taskin Ahmed dismissed Azhar Ali on 8. Bangladeshi bowlers kept the pressure on by picking up wickets in regular basis. Pakistan were in all sorts of trouble on 249/8. But Fahim Ashraf and Hasan Ali’s unbeaten partnership of 93 runs in the 9th wicket sealed a thrilling 2 wicket victory for Pakistan in the last over. Mehidy Hasan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh with 2 wickets for 30.

Bangladesh will play their second and final Warm-match against India on 30th May at Kennington Oval, London.
