Bangladesh start Max Emerging Teams Asia cup with comprehensive win


Hong Kong 125 : (Babar 37, Nizakat 27, Mominul 3/11, Nasir 3/18)

Bangladesh won their first match in the Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017. They beat Hong Kong by 8 wickets.

Earlier Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat first. Abul Hasan Raju draw the first blood and picked up the wicket Anshuman Rath on 7. Chris Carter was run out on 15. Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat made a partnership of 49 runs in the 3rd wicket and put some fightback.

Rahatul Ferdous Javed broke this partnership and picked up the wicket of Nizakat Khan on 27. Waqas Khan was the next man to be dismissed by Nasir Hossain on 4. Mominul Haque grabbed the wicket of Hong Kong’s highest scorer Babar Hayat on 37. Next batsman Shahid Wasif was gone for 2, Nasir was the bowler this time.

Mominul struck twice in the 31st over again to dismiss Waqas Barkat and Jhatha Subraymanyan, both scored 2. Next over Nasir got rid of Ehsan Nawaz without scoring any run. Ehsan Khan was the last man to be dismissed by Javed on 17 and Hong Kong were bowled out for 125.

Mominul Haque was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh with 3 for 11. Nasir Hossain also picked up 3 wicket for 18 runs.

In reply Bangladesh had a good start as Saif Hassan and Azmir Ahmed made 46 runs in the 1st wicket. Waqas Khan dismissed Azmir on 15. Skipper Mominul Haque scored a quickfire 21 from 14 before dismissing by Ehsan Khan.

Next batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto made an unbeaten 41 run partnership in the 3rd wicket with Saif and snatched the victory for Bangladesh. Saif was unbeaten on 57 and Shanto was on 24.

Bangladesh will play their next match tomorrow against Nepal at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground, Cox’s Bazar. Match will start at 9 am Bangladesh time.
