Bangladesh start Super Four with defeat against India

Bangladesh have started the Super Four of Asia Cup UAE 2018 with defeat against India at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. India won the match by 7 wickets.

Bangladesh made two changes in the playing eleven from the last match. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman came in the team in the place of Mominul Haque and Abu Hider.

India have won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Opening pair Liton Kumar Das and Nazmul Hossain both departed early on 16 in 5.1 overs. Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah all got the start but failed to make an impact as Bangladesh kept losing wickets in regular interval. Tigers were in big trouble after losing 7 wickets for 101 in 33.2 overs.

Then Mehidy Hasan and skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza made an vital partnership of 66 in the 8th wicket. Bangladesh lost last three wickets in quick-succession and were bowled out for 173 in 49.1 overs. Mehidy was the highest scorer with 42. Ravindra Jadeja bagged 4 wickets for 29 for India.

Defending a low total, Bangladesh nedded some disciplined bowling from bowlers. But they were denied by India skipper Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 83 which powerd them to a convincing 7-wicket victory in 36.2 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni chipped in with 40 and 33 respectively. Rubel, Mashrafe, Shakib shared one wicket each for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan on September 23 in the second Super Four match.
