Bangladesh suffer against Afghanistan before Super Four

 Afghanistan : 255/7 in 50 overs (Shahidi 58, Rashid 57*, Naib 42*; Shakib 4/42, Abu Hider 2/50, Rubel 1/32)

Bangladesh : 119/10 in 42.1 overs (Shakib 37, Mahmudullah 27, Mosaddek 26*; Rashid 2/13)

Result : Afghanistan won by 136 runs.

Bangladesh have lost the final group B match of Asia Cup UAE 2018 against Afghanistan by 136 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Bangladesh made three changes in the playing eleven from the last match. Mominul Haque, Nazmul Hossain and Abu Hider came in the team in the place of Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman. Nazmul and Abu Hider made their ODI debut today.

Winning the toss, Afghanistan lost two early wickets for 28 after opted to bat first. Debutant Abu Hider bagged both of the wickets. Shakib Al Hasan then continued the pressure on the Afghanistan batsmen with 4 wickets in his ten over quota. Rubel Hossain chipped in with the wicket of Shahidi on 58 as Afghanistan were reduced to 160 for 7.

Then Naib and Rashid Khan made an unbeaten 95-run stand in the 8th wicket to power Afghanistan to post 255 for 7 in 50 overs. Rashid’s quickfire knock hurt Bangladesh bowlers in the later overs as he remained not out on 57 off 32 balls. Shakib scalped 4 wickets for 42.

In reply, debutant Nazmul Hossain departed early of the innings on 7. Bangladesh then lost the wickets of Liton Kumar Das, Mominul Haque and Mohammad Mithun in quick-succession. Two veteran Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah tried to repair the early damage. But Rashid Khan removed both of them and put further trouble on the Tigers innings. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 119 in 42.1 overs. Shakib was the highest scorer with 37. Rashid, Mujeeb and Naib claimed two wickets each for Afghanistan.
Bangladesh will take on India in the first match of Super Four today at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai today.
