Bangladesh suffer defeat against Scotland

Toss : Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Scotland : 140/9 in 20 overs (Greaves 45, Munsey 29, Watt 22; Mahedi 3/19, Shakib 2/17, Taskin 1/28)

Bangladesh : 134/7 in 20 overs (Mushfiqur 38, Mahmudullah 23, Shakib 20; Wheal 3/24, Greaves 2/19, Watt 1/19)

Result : Scotland won by 6 runs.

Tigers started their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign with disappointment as they lost to Scotland in the first match of Round 1 clash. Chasing 141, Mahmudullah’s fell short for 6 runs. Bangladesh will play their second match against Oman on tomorrow (October 19).

Bangladesh decided to filed first after winning the toss. Bowlers, specially backed the decision in the first half of the innings as Scotland were reduced to 53 for 6. At that stage, it looked like Tigers will be chasing a small total.

But Greaves stood out for his team and played an crucial 45 runs knock and and made couple of vital partnerships to power them to a total of 140 for 9. Mahedi Hasan took 3 wickets for 19. 

Soumya Sarkar and Liton Kumar Das both gone cheaply which put Bangladesh in a trouble early. Then Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim made 47 runs partnership but they runs came slowly during that period. After Mushfiqur’s dismissal on 38, Bangladesh were desperately searching for searching for some power hitting to catch up the run rate.

Afif Hossain looked good before got out on 18. Mahedi then played a cameo knock of unbeaten 13 of 5 but it was not enough in the end. Wheal bagged 3 wickets for 24.
