Bangldesh failed to the reach final of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup


Bangladesh : 179 in 49.3 overs (Nasir 39, Shaif 37, S. Hassan 32, Fernando 4/32, Aponsu 1/10, Perera 1/13)

Sri Lanka : 180/2 after 38.5 overs (Samarawickrama 88*, Asalanka 83*, , Jayasuriya 6, Nayeem 1/28, Shaif 1/45, Mominul 0/7)

Result: Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets.

Bangladesh lost by 8 wickets against Sri Lanka in the 1st semi-final of Max Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2017 at the Chittagong Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Early Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Asitha Fernando gave Sri Lanka a dream start with a hat-trick in the seventh over and Bangladesh were on 20/3 at that stage. He picked up the wickets of Afif Hossain, Mominul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto.

Next batsman Mohammad Mithun was gone for 15. Angelo Perera dismissed opener Saif Hassan before he scored 32. Yasir Ali was the fourth victim of Fernando on 11.

Nasir Hossain got the start but departed for 39 and Bangladesh were at all sorts of troubles on 120 for 7. Then Shaif Uddin and Abul Hasan put some fightback and added 53 runs in the 8th wicket. Abul Hossain was retired out on 23.

Shaif Uddin and Nasum Ahmed was the last two batsmen to be dismissed as Bangladesh were bowled out for 179 runs in 49.3 overs. Asitha Fernando was the most successful bowler for Sri Lanka with 4 for 45.

In reply Sri Lanka lost Ron Chandraguptha early in the innings as Shaif Uddin struck for Bangladesh. Nayeem Hasan dismissed Shehan Jayasuriya on 6 and put some pressure on Sri Lanka. But Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka made an unbeaten 165 runs partnership in the 3rd wicket which and helped Sri Lanka to seal a comprehensive 8 wicket victory.

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 123 runs in the other semi-final. They will face Sri Lanka in the final on April 3 at the Chittagong Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
