Soumya Sarkar’s all-round heroics went in vain as Bangladesh suffer defeat in the first official warm up match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets. Tigers will play their second and final warm up match against Ireland on October 14.

Batting first, stand in captain Liton started in a fashion but his innings cut short for 16. Apart from Soumya, all the next batsmen got the start but failed to convert it into big. The left hander scored the highest 34 off 26 balls. Mahedi Hasan’s cameo knock of unbeaten 16 in the later part of innings helped to post 147 for 7.

Defending the total, bowlers gave genuine hope as they reduced Sri Lanka for 75 for 6. But from there Fernando and Chamika snatched the match with an unbeaten partnership. Soumya scalped 2 wickets for 12. Mahedi, Taskin and Shoriful shared 1 wicket each.
