First match abandoned at Cox’s Bazar

Result : Match abandoned.


The first of 5-match one dayer series between Bangladesh A and Ireland A has been abandoned due to rain at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium, Cox’s Bazar.

After winning the toss, Ireland A opted to bat first. Subashis Roy and Abu Haydar gave Bangladesh A a great start by dismissing 4 wickets of Ireland for 14. Sean Tarry and Lorcan Tucker’s 83 runs partnership in the fifth wicket helped Ireland to recover from early trouble. Finally Sanzamul got rid of Tucker on 27.

Tanvir Haider picked up the wicket of Terry on 65. Tanvir struck again couple of overs later to dismiss Getkate on 27. Despite some late fightback from the Irish lower-order, Bangladesh A managed to bowl them out for 229 in 49.1 overs. Abu Haydar, Abul Hasan, Subashis and Tanvir all picked up two wickets each.

In reply Bangladesh A lost the first wicket of Sadman on 31. Skipper Nazmul Hossain and Nadif Chowdhury were dismissed in quick-succession. Before rain stopped the play, Bangladesh A posted 75 for 3 in 14 overs. Zakir Hasan was unbeaten on 35 and Tanvir was on 10.

Second match of the series will be held at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground, Cox’s Bazar on October 19.
