First Test to start from Thursday

Two match Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa will start from tomorrow (Thursday) at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Prior to this match, Bangladesh have played a 3-day practice match against South Africa Invitational XI which was ended in a draw.

So far Bangladesh have played 10 Tests against the Proteas. South Africa have won the first eight Tests while the last two Tests were drawn in 2015 when South Africa toured Bangladesh. Last time Tigers visited South Africa was back in 2008 when they lost the series 0-2.

Graeme Smith has been the most dominant with all the batting records among the both teams. He has scored highest 743 runs in 8 matches with 3 centuries and 1 half-centuries. Smith also played the highest individual innings of 232 in 2008. Habibul Bashar has the best record for Bangladesh against South Africa with 301 runs from 5 matches with 2 half-centuries.

Makhaya Ntini holds the top spot of highest wicket-takers with 35 wickets in 8 matches. Shahadat Hossain has bagged highest 15 wickets in 4 matches for Bangladesh. Shahadat’s 27 for 6 in 2008 is the best bowling figure in an innings among the both teams.

After an impressive home Test series against Australia, Tigers will aim to keep their recent success in the longer formats against the Proteas.
