A dominating Bangladesh side have secured an easy win over Zimbabwe in the first of 3-match ODI series in Sylhet. Liton scored his career best knock of 126 and helped the Tigers posting 321 which followed a clinical bowling display to seal a 169-run win. Second match of the series will be held on March 3 at the same venue.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza decided to bat first after winning the toss. Tamim Iqbal and Liton Kumar Das made a good start with a 60-run stand. Madhevere trapped Tamim lbw on 30. Liton then added 80 more runs with Najmul Hossain Shanto in the second wicket before the later was dismissed after scoring 29. Mushfiqur was the next batsman to be dismissed for 19.

Liton on the other end picked up his second ODI century but his stroke-full innings was cut short when he had to retire hurt on 126. Mohammad Mithun’s 50 and Mahmudullah’s 32 then set the tone for the innings for a big total. Saifuddin gave the perfect finishing touch with a quickfire unbeaten 28 off 15 balls including 3 sixes in the last over to help Bangladesh posted their highest total at this ground. Mpofu bagged 2 wickets for 68.

With the ball, Saifuddin again showed no mercy to the visitors as he scalped two quick wickets in the power-play with tight line and length. Other bowlers then also chipped in with regular wickets as Zimbabwe batsmen struggled throughout the innings. Madhevere was the top scorer with 35 for his side as they were all out for 152 in 39.1 overs. Saifuddin grabbed 3 wickets for 22.
