Bangladesh made couple of changes in the playing eleven from their last Test against Sri Lanka. Tamim Iqbal ruled due to injury and Shadman Islam replaced him. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah made their way to the side.
Winning the toss, Mominul opted to bat first. His decision backfired early as Muzarabani struck twice to remove Saif Hasan and Najmul Hossain for just 8 on the board. From there Shadman made a important 60-run stand with skipper Mominul. Shadman’s innings cut short by Ngarava on 23.
The hosts came back to the match after the lunch break as they picked up two crucial wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan in no time. Bangladesh were in deep trouble after Nyauchi got rid of Mominul after scoring 70.
At 132 for 6, in-form Liton was one of last hope for the Tigers and he stood out on the occasion to save his side. He got the perfect support from experienced Mahmudullah as the pair slowly took charge on the Zimbabwe bowlers. Liton was on his way for the maiden Test century before Tiripano dismissed him for 95.
Tiripano was on a roll as he trapped Mehidy Hasan Miraz lbw in the next ball. Next batsman Taskin Ahmed denied him the hat-trick chance and then went to hit couple of boundaries. Mahmudullah on the picked up his fifty and remained unbeaten on 54. Taskin was on 13.
