Match Report: Bowlers, top-order take off Victorians from the floor

Another impressive bowling performance followed by solid support from the top order batting have helped Comilla Victorians seal their consecutive second win, first time in this season, as they beat Rajshahi Kings comfortably by 8 wickets. Restricting the opponents to 124, Victorians knocked down the runs in overs.

Opting to bat first, Rajshahi had a good start as Mominul and Nurul scored 30 of the first 3 overs. However, their seemingly balanced top and middle order collapsed in the nest 7 overs getting themselves reduced to 59/6. James Franklin, the KIngs’ Kiwi all-rounder, then held fort to get the team total past 100. He gave the final blow by smacking Comilla pacer Shahadat Hossain Rajib for 3 whopping sixes and 1 four from the final over of the innings which saw RK end up on 124/7. Franklin was unbeaten on 44 from 31 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

In pursuit of the target, Comilla lost one of their openers early, albeit it did not cost them much as Samuels and Shehzad carried out the chase in a cruising mode with their 90-run partnership off 71 balls. Shehzad was caught by James Franklin at long-off for 46, on the verge of their win. However, Samuels remained not out on 55 to steer his side past the finish line with 8 wickets and as many balls remaining.
