Match Report: Titans climb the top while Victorians woes continue

A clinical Khulna Titans side have registered their 3rd and consecutive 2nd win in the AKS BPL T20 2016 to firm their position at the top of the point table as they defeated the defending champions Comilla Victorians by 13 runs sunday night who are yet to claim a victory in their current run.

Put in to bat first, KHT had 92 runs on the card for 1 loss from 10 overs and were expected to climb on another uphill following the day’s previous match. But they merely managed 52 more runs to end on 144 for 9.

Earlier, Andre fletcher and Hasanuzzaman gave the Titans a rapid start to steer past fifty runs off 31 balls. Fletcher was dismissed for 23 as he top edged an attempted pull to Imrul Kayes off Mashrafe’s over. Mashrafe then got rid of Shuvagata for 16 and Hasanuzzaman for 37 to reduce KHT to 99 for 3. The Titans then never seemed to get the grip as their batsmen perished wickets on regular intervals. For the Comilla side, Mashrafe and Sohail Tanvir claimed three wickets each and Nazmul Hossain Shanto scalped two.

In pursuit of 145, Marlon Samuels and Imrul Kayes raced the score to 38 off 28 balls for the VIctorians. However, Imrul was then bowled by Junaid Khan to head off the fall. Shafiul got rid of Shanto for 10 and Samuels for 30 to reduce Comilla to 86 for 5. Their chase stranded in 13 runs short of the target as 5 of the CV batsmen could not make double digit and three others fell immediately after reaching it.
