A meeting of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) was held today (Wednesday, 23 January 2019) on the Dhaka Second Division Cricket League 2018-19 match (scorecard attached) between Azim Cricket Club and Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha held on 20 January 2019 at the BKSP-3 Ground. The game had to be called off in the 9th over of the Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha innings after the team refused to play protesting an umpiring decision.
The CCDM after reviewing the incident was unanimous in its observation that the aggressive and threatening nature of protests by Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha and the club’s eventual refusal to play were against the spirit of the game. After taking into consideration the Match Referee’s report and all relevant factors, the CCDM has taken the following disciplinary measures against Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha which will come into immediate effect:
- As per clause 188.8.131.52 of the Match Playing Condition of Dhaka Second Division Cricket League 2018-19, two (02) points have been awarded to Azim Cricket Club from the match.
- As per the “Note” of Clause 16.2 of Match Playing Condition of Dhaka Second Division Cricket League 2018-19, a fine of Taka two (02) lac has been imposed on Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha.
- As per the same clause (16.2), Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha captain Monir Uddin has been fined Taka Twenty Five Thousand and also received a two-match suspension.
