Bangladeshi test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim played a brilliant innings of 159 runs in the first test in Wellington against New Zealand but also got hurt badly on thumb. In the second innings, he was hospitalized immediately after enduring a gutsy bouncer on head. He failed to recover from these wounds and missed the second test in Christchurch.
Rested Mushfiqur began his fitness training two days ago after returning home and is expecting to bat today in the nets. He is pretty much happy with his thumb now as the condition is gradually improving.
Bangladesh also missed badly their regular, seasoned batters Imrul and Mominul in the Christchurch test. BCB doctor Debashish Biswas is quite hopeful about them. “Imrul’s pain has been entirely diminished and we will conduct some further tests at 31 January. Mominul is also doing good and he will be alright before India tour.”
