Defending a low total of 131, Mahedi Hasan gave the perfect start with the wicket of Carey on the first ball of the innings. Bangladesh’s dream start continued as they picked up 2 more wickets in the next two overs to reduce Australia 11 for 3.

M. Marsh showed some resistance which cut short by Nasum Ahmed on 45. From there the visiting side kept losing wickets in regular intervals as only three batsmen was able to score past the double digits. They were eventually bowled out for 108. Nasum ended the match with his career best T20I figure of 4 for 19.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Soumya Sarkar was struggling from the start before bowled out on 2 by Hazlewood. Naim Sheikh and Shakib Al Hasan both got the start but both got out on 30s as Aussie bowlers made it hard for the batsmen to score quick runs.

Later Afif Hossain’s unbeaten 17-ball 23-run knock charged to the 130 runs mark. Hazlewood was the standout bowler for Australia with 3 wickets for 24.

Nasum named the player of the match for his outstanding spell.
