Rain frustrates Bangladesh U-19 at Kuala Lumpur

Bangladesh U-19 team’s journey of ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup 2017 ended with a 2-run defeat against Pakistan in the semi-final.

Batting first Bangladesh U-19 had a solid start as Pinak Ghosh and Naim Sheikh made a 51-run stand. Fifties from Pinak, Saif Hassan and Afif Hossain guided Bangladesh U-19 to post a decent total of 274 for 6 in 50 overs. Pinak was dismissed after scoring 82 while Saif scored 61. Afif was unbeaten on 52.

Bowlers gave a good start by picking up 3 early wickets of Pakistan U-19 for 51. Then Mohammad Tanha led the fightback with a knock of 92 for Pakistan. Rain interrupted the play when Pakistan’s score was 199 for 5 after 39 overs. As the rain continued, Pakistan was declared as the winner with 2-run margin according to DL method.
