Rumana Ahmed becomes the new captain of Women’s Cricket Team

The 15th meeting of the BCB board of directors was held today. The Board has appointed all-rounder Rumana Ahmed as the captain of the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team up to the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Sri Lanka in February 2017.

Rumana Ahmed is a leg spinning all rounder for Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team who debuted in 2011 against Ireland. She played 20 ODIs and 31 T20Is for Bangladesh. Rumana famously claimed a hat-trick in September 2016 against Ireland, the first in international cricket by a Bangladesh Women’s cricketer – and helped Bangladesh Women’s team win a crucial match against Ireland which was also the series decider. She replaces Jahanara Alam as the Women’s Team captain for ODI and T20I.
