Tamim shines in the opening day of Sri Lanka tour

Bangladesh team has enjoyed a good start in the opening day of the first practice match against Sri Lanka Board President XI at Moratuwa. Sri Lanka BP XI won the toss & invited the visitors to bat first. Opener Soumya Sarkar departed early in the morning after scoring 9 runs. Then Tamim Iqbal & Mominul Haque started to build the innings and made an unbeaten 143 run partnership.  

Before retired out, Mominul scored 73 runs from 103 balls with 10 fours. Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat at four and got out on 21 runs just before the tea break. Tamim retired after the tea to give other batsmen some batting practice. He scored 136 runs from 182 balls which included nine fours and seven sixes. Tamim started the innings slowly but he reached his hundred by hammering 24 runs from one over of Jayawikrama by hitting 3 sixes.

Shakib started well but got out on 30 runs. Mahmudullah & Liton Das added 59 runs at the 6th wicket partnership. Mahmudullah carried his good form by scoring 43 runs from 73 balls.

Next batsman Mehedi Hasan Miraz scored only 1 run and got out just before the stumps of the day’s play. On the other hand, wicket-keeper batsman Liton Das kept the momentum up & scored a quick-fire 57 runs from 64 balls with 10 boundaries. He will resume the Bangladesh innings tomorrow with Taijul Islam who is unbeaten on 4 runs.
