Tough challenge awaits for Bangladesh on final day

Bangladesh face a tough task to save the match ahead of the final day of first Rocket Test against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.

Sri Lanka have declared their first innings on 713 for 9 with a lead of 200 runs just after the tea break. Earlier of the day Miraz picked up the wicket of Roshen on 109 in the first session. Taijul Islam bowled Chandimal out on 87 after the first over of lunch.

Then Mehidy Hasan Miraz got rid of Dickwella on 62. Sunzamul Islam trapped Dilruwan lbw on 32. It was his maiden wicket in Test. After tea break, Taijul bagged two more wickets before Sri Lanka declared the innings. Taijul took 4 wickets for 219.

Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes gave a solid start to Bangladesh with a partnership of 52 runs in the opening stand. Sandakan broke the partnership as Tamim was caught behind on 41. Couple of overs later Imrul was also dismissed on 19.

First innings centurian Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur passed the next few overs safely. But Rangana Herath struck in the fifth ball of the last over of the day. Mushfiqur was caught at silly point on 2. Mominul remained not out on 18. Sandakan, Dilruwan and Herath shared one wicket each for Sri Lanka. Bangladesh finished the fourth day on 81 for 3, trailing by 119 runs.
