Women’s Cricket to start a new journey, says Chairman

Women’s Wing Chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Shafiul Alam Chowdhury today discussed the upcoming schedule of Bangladesh Women’s Team, Age Level and School Cricket.

Shafiul Alam Chowdhury is hopeful of some positive results under new management and various programmes. “We want to arrange the whole process of Bangladesh Women’s team in a new way. We have already taken some steps at the age level cricket. We have a plan to start school from the next month at Dhaka, Sylhet and Khulna. Apart from the Qualifying round, we have many games to play in this year. With a new coach, physio, trainer and a new management we want to achieve some success.”

Bangladesh Women’s team will have a busy year including Qualifying Round and Asia Cup, says Chairman. “We are hopeful to start the National Cricket Championship from March 15. We have some back-to-back tours in the next couple of months. We will participate in Asia Cup at Malaysia. Then we will visit Holland, South Africa and West Indies. So the girls will be busy for the next 6/7 months. As the every tour will be month-long, so we are planning to start the camp from next month.”

Women’s Wing Chairman also expressed his desire to arrange Test match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. “Zimbabwe will tour us at the later part of the year and it will be a full tour. We will try to arrange one or two Tests in that series. Sylhet International Cricket Stadium have everything required for a Test venue. So we are hopeful of getting Sylhet International Cricket Stadium as a Test venue from the Zimbabwe series.”
