Batsman Miraz blossoms as Bangladesh fight back in the afternoon
Stumps-Day 3 India 687/6d (Kohli 204, Taijul 3/156) Bangladesh 322/6 (Mushfiq 81*, Miraz 51*)
The lad came down the wicket against Ashwin to slog the ball over long on and consequently had a boundary under his belt. In the same over, he played a scintillating cover drive to score another boundary. The dependable number four of Bangladesh U19 team has finally blossomed on a day when Bangladesh were much in need of a decent partnership. Mehedi Hasan Miraz executed his batting skill in the international arena for the first time and made a solid partnership along with his skipper. Miraz had been exceptionally phenomenal since he went in the middle. He held his nerve like a seasoned batsman and treated every delivery according to its merit. Mushfiq and Miraz faced 197 deliveries to make 87 runs partnership. Bangladesh passed a successful evening session without losing any wicket. The skipper played the anchor role today. He showed his patience, diligence and skill to stay alive on the crease and pave Bangladesh the way to attain some glory. Prior to the partnership with Miraz, he made another hundred runs partnership with Shakib. This veteran duo were playing confidently after lunch break but struggled immensely while running between the wickets and messed up couple of times. Fortunately Mushfiq survived in all occasions. Shakib al Hasan was on sheer dominance with utter confidence and showed firm determination. But again he lost his temper suddenly and tried to slog a ball unnecessarily. He completely mis-hit that ball and could only manage the hands in the mid-on to get out on 82. Bangladesh really struggled in the first session against pumped up Indian bowlers. Tamim and Mominul were seemed shaky from the beginning and paid the price just after the start of day’s play. Mominul Haque called for an unnecessary two which was not there at all. Harried Yadav did well to grab the ball and throw it quickly to the bowling side. Tamim, while taking the second run, hesitated on the midway and ultimately sacrificed his wicket. Baffled Mominul couldn’t focus to build up his innings further. He followed Tamim soon after on 12. Mahmudullah and Shakib made a 45 runs partnership after that. But it was not enough in the context of the match. Mahmudullah left the crease by being trapped on LBW. Ishant Sharma produced a beauty to get the wicket of him.
