Bangladesh have suffered their fourth defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against India which ended the semi-final hope for the Tigers. India won the match by 28 runs at Edgbaston. Bangladesh will play their final match in the tournament on July 5 against Pakistan.

Chasing 315, Bangladesh needed a good start and two opener Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar gave that platform with a 39 runs stand. Both got the start but failed to make it big as Shakib Al Hasan again took the responsibility with the bat after Tamim and Soumya's dismissal on 22 and 33 respectively. Mushfiqur Rahim looked good before got out for 24.
Indian bowlers then bounced back in the match by picking the wickets Liton Kumar Das and Mosaddek Hossain in a quick succession. Shakib on the other end carried his good form with another fifty but ended up dismissed after scoring the highest knock 66. But then Sabbir Rahmand and Mohammad Saifuddin put some fightback with a 65-run partnership in the 8th wicket to gave some outside hope.
But Jasprit Bumrah had other idea who scalped the last three wickets to bowl out Bangladesh for 286 in 48 overs. Saifuddin remained unbeaten on 51. Bumrah was the most succesfull bowler for India with 4 wickets for 55.
Earlier, India opted to bat first after winning the toss. Bangladesh included Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Hossain in place of injured Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. India had perfect start as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul made the tournament's highest opening stand of 180. Soumya finally broke the partnership with the wicket of Rohit for 102.
Bangladesh bowlers then fought-back led by Mustafizur Rahman who run through the India middle order to restrict them from posting a big total. KL Rahul's 77 and Rishabh Pant's quick-fire 48 powered India to post 314 for 9 in 50 overs. Mustafizur scalped 5 wickets for 59. It was his first five-wicket haul in the World Cup and overall fourth in ODIs.
