Rajshahi Royals became the champion of Bangabandhu BPL T20 2019 by defeating Khulna Tigers in the final at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. After setting a target of 171, Rajshahi won the match by 21 runs after restricting Khulna for 149 for 8. Winning the toss, Khulna opted to bowl first and Mohammad Amir gave the perfect start by dismissing Afif Hossain for 10. Liton Kumar and Shoaib Malik then struggled during their stay in the wicket. It was half-centurion Irfan Shukkur who played another vital knock to keep the scoring rate in balance. Amir brought Khulna back in the match by removing Shukkur and put the Royals in trouble on 99 for 4 in 15th over. But a unbeaten 71-run stand between Andre Russell and Mohammad Nawaz rebuild the Royals and powered them to post a daunting total of 170 for 4. Amir was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets for 35. In reply, Khulna started badly after losing both opener for 11. In the 3rd wicket, Rillie Russouw and Shamsur Rahman revive the chase with 74 runs. Russouw was dismissed after scoring 37 while Shamsur picked up his fifty before got out by Kamrul Islam Rabbi. Rabbi put Khulna in further pressure with the Najibullah Zadran for 4 in the same over. Khulna had their all the hope on skipper Mushfiqur Rahim who failed to took his over the line as some disciplined bowling in the later overs sealed the match for the Royals. Khulna managed to score 149 for 8 in 20 overs. Irfan, Rabbi and Russell shared 2 wickets each. Andre Russell named the player of the match for his all-round heroics and later he was also named the player of the tournament for his 225 runs and 14 wickets.
