At stumps, Bangladesh posted 177 for 5 chasing a mammoth target of 437. Earlier in the morning Sri Lanka started aggressively with their overnight total of 17 for 2. Karunaratne led the attack with a quick fifty as they added 155 runs before lunch break in expense of 4 wickets. Sri Lanka declared their second innings on 194 for 9 with a lead of 436. Taijul Islam picked up 6 wickets for 72. Bangladesh needed a solid start and in-form Tamim Iqbal showed positive intent. His innings cut short as Ramesh got rid of him for 24. Saif Hassan and Najmul Hossain Shanto both got the start but failed to convert into big innings. Saif was dimissed after scoring 34 while Shanto scored 26. Skipper Mominul looked good during his stay at the crease but he too made the same mistake as Ramesh bowled him in 30's. Sri Lanka spinners were attacking from both ends but Mushfiqur Rahim kept Bangladesh in the match. It was Ramesh again who put Tigers in all sorts of trouble by picking up the wicket of Mushfiqur on 40. Next pair Liton Kumar Das and Mehidy Hasan batted the next couple of overs without further trouble. Bad light and rain ended the day's play early. Liton was not out on 14 and Mehidy was on 4.
